One morning at 6:30, my sister Vanessa called and told me that our father had died during the night. The problem was, Dad was sitting barely three feet from me, dressed in his navy robe, sipping my coffee, and reaching over to steal bacon from my plate. For several seconds, I could do nothing except stare at Vanessa\u2019s name glowing across my phone.<\/p>\n
Vanessa told me Dad was dead and claimed that her husband, Grant, had discovered him. Almost immediately, she started talking about his house, his truck, his bank accounts, and the funeral arrangements.
